As managing Editor of DigitalMarketer and Co-founder of Digital Strategy Boot Camps, Lindsay is in the content marketing trenches every day. In fact, she’s generated over seven million unique sessions (stop and think about that for a couple of seconds) for the DigitalMarketer blog by doing exactly what it takes to get content marketing right—and that’s what she’ll be sharing with us at #CMC18.

She shares some high points with us here, in her Speaker Q&A:

Q: What excites you most about presenting at CMC18?
A: The opportunity to educate fellow content marketers on what’s currently working and how they can do more with their content marketing efforts while actually doing less.

Q: Why is NOW the time to master content marketing?
A: If you’ve been paying attention to all the “chaos” across Facebook and other advertising platforms, user experience is winning out as the priority. Blatant advertising and direct response just won’t cut it anymore (and won’t even be shown to your audiences in most cases), you need to know your audience and be able to give them a reason to trust you and join your conversation. Content marketers just became infinitely more valuable to any business that plans to stick around for the long haul because we specialize in building relationships, delivering value, and joining the conversation your prospects are already having.

Q: What does it take to connect with customers today—and how can great content do that?
A: It takes being human. People are tired of being sold to and want to create meaningful relationships with the brands they support. They have an endless supply of options and are just looking for one brand that separates itself from the pack by having a “face” and having a conversation. Great content breaks through transactional relationships. It deposits value in the relationship bank time and time again. Great content helps foster community and goodwill to keep your audience engaged.

Q: If there was just one thing you could convince all content marketers to do, what would that be?
A: Take a vow of content silence until you figure out what it is your audience actually needs and wants to hear from you :)
